The Upside of Gravity
Iām Emily. I am aerialist, performer, collaborator & teacher.
I like to think that I have found the upside of Gravity
Although I did not have the advantage personally, exposure to various forms of movement whether gymnastics, dance, yoga, or karate from an early age can create a strong aptitude and foundation for approaching new skills later in life. As fun as it might have been to be born into an aerialist family, my own unique path into the aerial arts is proof that you can truly be a beginner and advance with continued practice. Every one of us has strengths, weaknesses, advantages & disadvantages and we decide whether to rise to the challenge.
I believe there is great value to facing fear and seeking new perspectives and approaches and in learning that perfection may never be attained - but the path to continuous improvement can be more rewarding.
I also see my endless journey of learning as a spiritual and creative practice. It takes a great deal of focus, humility, dedication, trust, and complete presence.
I try to be someone who sees art in all of us and finds beauty and resonance in unexpected places. I have a conveniently immense fondness of heights and have been climbing trees since I was very small.
My goal as a human is to explore possiblity. I believe in life before death.
